Our mobile “Farmers MarKID” is a direct and hands on approach to improving the health of children in our community. We take free fresh fruits and vegetables to wherever kids need us: food deserts, parks, playgrounds, after school programs, high need schools, and other nonprofits. At the MarKID children receive “Nourish Bucks” and “shop” for produce just like you would at a regular farmer’s market. In front of each produce item is kid friendly information on why it is healthy and good for you. The MarKID is designed to be transactional and educational for kids. It also designed so the family has something to cook in the home. After children have “paid” for their produce it is bagged up with a healthy recipe booklet for the parents to use in the home! -
We love fruits and veggies and we want our kiddos to also! Help us provide our children with healthy nudges by providing them fresh fruit and hearty vegetables every weekend and during all school breaks. Produce is paired with recipe ideas and simple sides like individual servings of honey, peanut butter, or ranch dressing. -
By making this donation, we’ll be able to provide a child with weekend bags for an entire year and feed them during all school breaks! THAT's what it means to be a TRUE Hunger Hero! This is an incredible gift and one that has the power to change the course of a child’s life for the better. Each weekend bag includes 7-8 meals, snacks, and fresh produce. "Break boxes" include 3 meals a day, snacks, and fresh produce. Examples of food that we provide in the Weekend Bag are:- fresh produce
- canned tuna or chicken
- canned pasta with meat
- peanut butter
- individual fruit cups or apple sauce
- mac & cheese
- shelf-stable cheese
- granola bars
- cereal boxes and/or bars
- individual packs of crackers
- dried fruit & nut mixes

The Market on Market (The MOM) is NourishNC's newest way to provide supplemental food assistance to food insecure children in New Hanover County! Children and families can now "shop" for the free groceries that are right for them! This "client-choice" model allows us to empower families to choose the food that fits their children's tastes, their dietary needs, and provide culturally-specific food items. Help us stock the shelves, the coolers, the freezers, AND the produce shelves by making a contribution today! The MOM helps us maximize your donation by reducing waste and allows families to select the foods they will use and leave the rest for the others! -
