Nourish Food Farmacy (Rx) Boxes

In 2019, NourishNC launched its Food Farmacy Program with the recognition that “Food Is Medicine”. Doctors and Nurses at the Nunnelee Pediatric Speciality Clinic and Coastal Family Medicine ask two additional questions during children’s screenings. If a child identifies as food insecure, they leave their appointment with a box of pantry staples and also receive a “prescription” for fruit, veggies, meat, eggs, and bread! The boxes also contain a guide about additional food resources in their county.
