While 2020 has been a doozy in many ways, NourishNC and its team of employees and Board members have been recognized by numerous institutions! The team members and the agency may get the limelight, but that drive to eliminate childhood hunger is fueled by the AMAZING support of the Wilmington community, donors, volunteers, and countless other individuals who help make NourishNC the family of Hunger Heroes that it is! Encore’s 2020 Best Of – Best NonProfit

For the second year in a row, NourishNC was honored by being chosen as the Best NonProfit in the greater Wilmington Area by readers of Encore Magazine. Once again, we had steep competition, but the NourishNC community showed out for the vote! You can view all the category winners here.

Greater Wilmington Business Journal’s Coastal Entrepreneur Award – NonProfit Category

NourishNC’s Food Farmacy and Toddler Tummies programs were highlighted for their innovation and helped NNC snag the top recognition for the NonProfit category in this year’s Coastal Entrepreneur Awards! Delta Sigma Theta – African Violet Award

NourishNC was honored by being chosen for the African Violet Award from the ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. You can learn more about it here. Learn more about the historic sorority, founded in 1913, and their focus on service to their community!

No Kid Hungry NC – Hunger Hero Award

The NC Child Hunger Hero Awards are a way of showing appreciation for the everyday heroes who make healthy meals possible for kids across North Carolina. Steve McCrossan received state-level recognition for his tireless efforts at this year’s No Kid Hungry Awards! Steve traveled to Chapel Hill and was 1 among 14 Hunger Heroes presented this award by First Lady of NC Kristin Cooper. Check out the press release here.

Encore’s 2020 Best Of – Humanitarian Nomination

While Steve may not have taken home the crown for Encore Magazine’s Best Humanitarian this year, the nomination was a huge honor alone!

Wilmington’s 40 Under 40

For the second year, Star News and the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce have selected 40 of Wilmington’s top young professionals in the area under 40 years of age. Katelyn Mattox was chosen among the 39 others as a young professional who goes above and beyond to help make our community a better place to live, work, and play! WilmingtonBiz 100 – Rising Stars

The Greater Wilmington Business Journal recognizes the top 100 Power Players, Influencers, Innovators, Connectors, and Rising Stars impacting Southeastern North Carolina’s business landscape. Katelyn was selected as 1 of 8 in the Rising Stars category! The 100 honorees have been named, but the publication is still to come – stay tuned for more details!

Association of Fundraising Professionals – Best Fundraising Board of Directors

The collective whole that makes up the Board of Directors of NourishNC was recognized as part of National Philanthropy Day for their commitment to fundraising for our mission! National Philanthropy Day (NPD) celebrates the charitable work that everyone, across various duties, does to make a difference and create an impact in our community.
